VIETNAM AS A GATEWAY TO SOUTHEAST ASIAN MARKETS
On the occasion of the 5th year of implementation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP) and the fiftieth anniversary of the Vietnam-Canada bilateral relationship, The Vietnam Trade Office in Canada, The Government of Quebec, The ASEAN-Canada Business Council and Laval University are organizing an event in partnership with Aéro Montréal, to present a portrait of the market and the opportunities offered by Vietnam as a privileged gateway to Southeast Asian markets

Vietnam airlines currently operate 60 domestic routes.

- The commercial aviation industry is valued at US$2.2 billion, a value that is expected to continue to grow at an average of 5.4% per year.
- 2nd largest economy in Southeast Asia, Thailand maintains its defense spending with an annual budget of around US$7 billion. In 2022, the Thai government allocated just over 1% of its GDP to defence.
- 49 % of this budget will be allocated to the Royal Army, 20% to the Royal Navy and 19% to the Royal Air Force.

Indonesia (over 17,000 islands and 300 distinct ethnic and linguistic groups) has ambitious plans to revitalize its military.

The Indonesian government has allocated $9.3 billion for defense in 2022 and a budget of $125 billion to modernize its military (2020-2044).

The country also plans to acquire new, more efficient equipment, such as unmanned aircraft systems, surveillance communication systems, aircraft components, maintenance, repair and overhaul services, etc.
